All children in year 1 will sit the National Phonics test in accordance with legislation.
It is a simple test, completed individually but supported by a teacher, checking the children's knowledge of sounds.
The results are reported to parents within the end of term School Report.
Where children do not reach the expected level in the test, they will re-sit it at the end of Year 2.
